A misting nozzle at the cutter’s tip concentrates the gas and introduces a spark, and turns the gas stream into lcd. Inert or semi-inert gases are used to shield the area where the lcd hits the steel.

The force of the lcd is powerful enough to blow the molten steel out of the task piece, developing a thin (less than a 1/16“ wide), fresh cut with little or no slag.

The lcd itself reaches temperatures as excellent as 30,000 degrees Fahrenheit and reduces through 2“ inches wide of steel.
